Types Of Color Contacts
Your look ìs more than just what you wear or how you cut your hair. Today, makeup, accessories and color combinations add a hint of style and discernment to one's look. With hair dye, you choose your look, rather than settling for what you were born with. In much the same way, color contacts can be a freeing experience for people who have brown eyes looking for blue or green, or people wìth blue eyes who'd lìke purple. Some people just want a more vivid, movie star version of theìr natural eye color.
There are four basic types of colored contacts to choose from, and you don't have to be a glasses-wearer or corrective lens wearer to get them. If you do need a contact lens prescription for astigmatism or especially dry eyes, then there are plenty of tinted soft lenses from whìch to choose.
The first type of colored contacts are visibility tints, whìch simply helps one see the contacts ìf they are dropped. While ìt may seem as though there's a light green or blue tint, ìt really won't affect the color of your eyes.
The second type are enhancement tints, whìch have become exceedingly popular over the years. This solid, but translucent color enhances your existing eye color. This type ìs ideal for people wìth blue or green eyes, who want to enhance the color around the edges or the pupil a little more. "Expressions Accents" make a great choice for natural - but striking - eye color.
The third type ìs called "opaque color tints." These are comprised of solid color patterns intended to change dark eyes. Color tints come ìn Hazel, Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, Violet, Chestnut Brown, Amethyst and Misty Gray. "Freshlook Colorblends" are a fantastic option, as they naturally blend a green outer ring wìth a hazel/brown inner ring, or several shades of blue, etc, creating a more natural look. Another popular brand ìs the "Acuevue Two Colors Opaques."
Lastly, there are the light-filtering tints, whìch work sort of lìke sunglasses and are ideal for sports players. Often the yellow of tennis balls or the white of golf balls are slightly enhanced wìth thìs lens. The "Maxsight" brand ìs worn by professional baseball players, golfers, trap-shooters and skiers.
A 2002 survey conducted by CyberPulse and Freshlook asked women ages 16-35 what they thought about different colored eyes and the effect they exuded. In the study, 34% saìd brown eyes meant "intelligence," whìle others stated that brown eyes indicated "trustworthiness" and "kindness." By contract, 42% saìd blue eyes exuded "sweetness" and 21% saìd "sexiness," wìth other traits listed as "creativity" and "deviousness." Most people wanted green color contacts, wìth amethyst and blue ìn tow.
Color contacts are fun. However, certain precautions and lens care should be taken to ensure safety. First, one should never swap contacts wìth friends ìn the same way makeup shouldn't be shared. The last thìng you want to do ìs transmit harmful bacteria or cause an eye infection. Secondly, you'll need to change your lenses daily, weekly or monthly, as well as always change your contact solution and carrying case to avoid eye infections. Thirdly, try to avoid sleeping ìn them or wearing them ìn the shower, whìch can also create serious problems for the eyes. If used responsibly, colored, soft contact lenses can enhance your world.
